Notion AI

Editor's Review

Notion AI no longer exists as an add-on — since May 13, 2025, full AI is bundled into Business at $20/user/month annual ($24 monthly). Free and Plus ($10/month) get only a ~20-response lifetime AI trial with no monthly reset. Enterprise is custom (zero LLM data retention, SCIM, audit logs). Separately, Custom Agents cost $10 per 1,000 monthly credits with no rollover, Business/Enterprise only. 2026 was Notion's agent-platform year: Custom Agents went GA February 24 (1M+ agents built by May 13); Notion 3.6 (July 1) brought External Agents — Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex running tasks inside Notion — plus AI Meeting Notes with speaker labels; Notion 3.7 (September 15) added team agent skills, custom MCP connections (beta), sub-agents, and a Notion Agents iOS app; May 13 also brought a developer platform with hosted Workers code sandbox. The honest limits: everyone in the workspace pays $20/seat even if only three people use AI — no per-seat AI toggle. Custom Agent credit costs are unpredictable, and there's a real permission risk: a shared Custom Agent can access resources its invoking user couldn't reach directly. AI quality depends entirely on having a mature, well-organized workspace — garbage in, garbage out. Who should pay? Teams whose work already lives in Notion — workspace-aware Q&A, database autofill, meeting notes written straight into pages. That's the only case where it beats ChatGPT ($20/month flat, published limits). For open-ended work, ChatGPT wins; for cheap local notes, Obsidian wins. Notion AI is a $20/seat tax that only pays off inside Notion.
