Ideogram

Editor's Review

Ideogram owns one niche completely: readable text in generated images — neon signs, posters, logos, memes that stay legible. Nobody else built their whole product around typography, and the 2026 move cements it: Ideogram 4.0 shipped with open weights and a commercial license, a rarity for a commercial image lab, plus enterprise customization. Add character consistency, Style Reference, and a 4.3B+ style library with savable Style Codes. Pricing: Free (slow queue, public images, weekly slow credits); Basic $8/month ($7 annual); Plus $20/month ($15 annual, 2,400 priority credits); Pro $60/month ($42 annual, 7,500 priority credits); Team $30/user/month ($20 annual, 3,600/user, 2-seat minimum). Per-image in v4.0 at 2K: Turbo 3 credits / Balanced 6 / Quality 10. Priority credits don't roll over — use them or lose them. The honest limits: photorealism trails Flux 2 Pro and Nano Banana 2 for portraits and product shots (independent measurements: ~$0.060/image, not the fastest at top quality), and the style range is narrow outside graphic-design contexts. Versus Midjourney ($30/month Standard): Midjourney wins general art; Ideogram wins the text niche. Versus Google's Nano Banana 2 and Flux 2 Pro — both closing in on the typography edge: Ideogram's remaining moat is readable text plus open weights. Who should pay? Designers making thumbnails, posters, and social assets where the words must be right. For pure beauty, look elsewhere.
